"New team, same spot, Lancer football back in the playoffs"

Dillon Tufts, Sports Chief (and senior player #51), November 15, 2024

"One and done. That has been the theme for most of the other teams Londonderry has had in the playoffs, but the Lancer football team is looking to change that when they face Nashua South on Saturday, November 15 at Lancer Park.

The Lancers will come into this game fresh coming off the their bye week, while Nashua South carries some momentum into Lancer Park after beating Bishop Guertin. "

"Londonderry controls the ball, advances to rematch with Exeter"

Chris Duffy, November 17, 2024

It was a playoff game and it was windy, two key ingredients for running the football.

And, really, despite a reputation earned over recent seasons as an effective passing team, Londonderry High is a run-first team in 2024. So the Lancers ran and ran, to the tune of a 28-13 victory over Nashua South in a state Division I quarterfinal on Saturday at Lancer Park."

“It was like death by paper cuts,” said South coach Scott Knight

"Ground game helps Londonderry roll to win over Nashua South in D1 football quarters"

Tom King, November 17, 2024

Most travel for the Londonderry High School football team in Saturday’s Division I quarterfinal vs. Nashua South was, well, grounded.

Bill Gilman, November 16, 2024

"Early miscues doom South; Londonderry moves on, 28-13"

"Squandered scoring chances and a pair of first-half turnovers were more than Nashua South could overcome, in a 28-13 D-I quarterfinal loss to Londonderry, Saturday afternoon.

You can’t dig yourself a hole against a team like that,” said Knight, whose team ended its season at 7-3. “They’ve got great depth and they’ve got great size. We knew we were going to have to play a really good, all-around three-phase game.”

Comments from the News

NH-HighSchool Sports

“We want to be a great run team,” Londonderry coach Jimmy Lauzon said. “It’s really based on personnel, some years we throw it more than others, but this is a power football team.”

“We wanted to control the pace,” Lauzon said. “I know they wanted to go fast. There were times we wanted to, but for the most part we wanted to make sure our guys had a chance to breathe.”

“Well, the last punt we had, we ended up getting just 20 yards out of that,” Lauzon said. “And there was always the chance they could block (a punt). At the end of the day, keep the ball in your playmakers’ hands and our offensive line’s pretty good.”

“He (Cruz) really can take over games like these,” said Londonderry coach Jimmy Lauzon of the 5-9, 205-pound junior. “We were riding him, just getting back to the basics, getting back to who we are, physical up front. We change things based on our personnel every year. This is a power football team with the ability to throw it. That’s just who we are.”

“We told the team (at halftime), ‘They (the Panthers) won the last two minutes of the first half; the next two minutes are huge,’” said Lauzon. “We had to come up with a stop. They were going to have the wind. But we got a three-and-out and drove it down 92 yards. We couldn’t have asked for a better start (to the second half).”
